The initial stage of the process involves evidence gathering and engaging with the local community, businesses and stakeholders, including statutory consultees and neighbouring local authorities. The Strategic Issues and Priorities (SIP) document identified the issues to be addressed in the Local Plan and builds on the evidence base.
Our current Local Plan includes two documents: Local Plan 1 – Joint Core Strategy (adopted 2013 and covering the period up to 2031) and Local Plan 2 – Development Management Policies and Site Allocations (adopted 2017).
Much of the development in the existing Local Plan already has planning permission - this means the future development strategy is partly determined, at least for the early period of the new Local Plan.
